Washington, DC – On Sunday afternoon, August 17, a group of DC area musicians will make their voices heard literally and figuratively at the Palisades Hub at 5200 Cathedral Ave. in NW, DC for a concert called “Singing for Good: Songs of Peace and Protest.” Ten A-list acts covering a range of genres including rock, jazz, bluesy electric guitar, musical comedy, hip-hop, and folk pop will perform a mix of original and classic tunes that aim to provide the audience validation, hope, comfort as well as some laughs in response to these challenging times. The lineup consists of Veronneau, Dave Chappell, Griefcat, David Kitchen, Favorite Child, Annette Wasilik, Arch Alccantara, Jordyn Tareaz, Night Train 357 and host Suzanne Brindamour. “Singing for Good: Songs of Peace and Protest” is the brain child of performer, composer, filmmaker and concert curator Suzanne Brindamour who feels it’s crucial for artists to use their talents to speak out against the current administration’s devastating, exclusionary policies and the gutting of beneficial programs and agencies that threatens livelihoods and lives in the U.S. and abroad. “Singing for Good” is a new initiative and concert series that aims to give artists the opportunity to unite, be heard and supported while offering support to the community. Proceeds from each concert will be shared with non-profits that serve or benefit residents in the DMV area. On August 17, the beneficiary will be Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) whose mission is to effect change in public policy at local, state and national levels to directly address the threat of global warming. A representative from the organization will be at the concert. Doors will open at 3pm and the concert will begin at 3:33pm, a time chosen because triple three is considered divine in numerology and signifies encouragement, support, and creativity. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at Venmo.com/Suzbrindamour or at the door. Information about each of the performers is on the next page.
