Hank Dietle's Tavern, 11010 Rockville Pike, Rockville

Annette is excited to be opening for The Silos' Walter Salas-Humara,https://www.waltersalashumara.com/ https://www.eventbrite.com/e/walter-salas-humara-tickets-1985646391810 Having first moved to New York in 1982 to pursue a career in the visual arts, and having completed a year of graduate work at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Salas-Humara found steady work with the Leo Castelli Gallery during the ‘80s Manhattan art boom. Citing as his heroes ‘50s minimalist painter Ellsworth Kelly and Pop artist Jasper Johns, Salas-Humara’s early paintings were post modernist combinations of large abstract color fields and expressionist imagery. His art career was cut short with the success of his rock band The Silos three years later.

Hank Dietle's Tavern, 11010 Rockville Pike, Rockville

Every first Wednesday of the month Annette brings together the best local and touring singer/songwriters. This month is going to be another great one. We were looking forward to having Andy Cohen join us, but due to unforeseen circumstances, he won't be able to make it. Dan Kenny, leader of From the Dirt, has stepped up. I love his writing style and melodic sense. Come!

Local favorite, El Golfo, is a pan-Latin restaurant and music and party venue and they need our help! The gang at Azalea City Recordings have played El Golfo many, many times over the years. This night many of us will be performing to help raise funds so that this beloved place survives. Heartbreakingly, ICE has discouraged many patrons from coming out of their homes which has effected El Golfo financially and emotionally. Please come out to support them and catch some great music over dinner and drinks.

Hank Dietle's Tavern 11010 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852 | 8pm | $20 suggested donation Normally the text for Annette Wasilik's monthly first-Wednesday series goes something like “Annette Wasilik curates and hosts this showcase of the area's finest singer/songwriters at Hank Dietle's Tavern in Rockville, which has literally risen from the ashes and it looks, sounds and feels fabulous! $10-$20 Suggested donation for the artists.” But for tonight's event the suggested donation is going towards continuing the annual tradition of the FocusMusic Rising Artist Award! For decades, Vic and Reba Heyman attended concerts and festivals across the nation, supporting artists with their energy as well as financially, earning them the affectionate title of “folk angels”. In their spirit, our annual award recognizes and supports a rising individual or group in the folk community… but we need to replenish that pot to keep the award going! We're gathering the talented performing artists of FocusMusic leadership along with the winner of our most recent Rising Artist Award, Rebecca Berlin, to put on one SPECTACULAR end-of-the-year showcase and fundraiser in the hopes that we can keep the RAA going for many years to come!
