VFW Post 350 Hell's Bottom, Local Cream, 6420 Orchard Ave, Takoma Park, MD
Join us for the best cozy, dive-bar, monthly songwriter showcase that keeps gaining fans every month! In July, my new friend and awesome (truly!) songwriter Jeffrey Siler https://jefreysiler.com/ joins us down from NYC and local master of song Cletus Kennelly http://www.cletuskennelly.com/ will be here, too! Talking House (Brian Evans, Jeff Karn and I) hosts as usual. The VFW has cheap beer and drinks and potato chips but if you need food, the group often orders up a pizza or carry out from up the street in downtown Takoma Park.

Talking House Trio (Wasilik, Evans and Karn) hosts this new showcase for the some of the best known and unknown local, and sometimes touring ,songwriters in Hell's Bottom VFW #350. This month we feature Brooksie Wells, a veteran songwriter and singer as well as a master performer. We also are excited to present Maddi Mae Hicks, a young and talented musician, songwriter and singer from Warrenton VA.
Both women are not to be missed!! We start at 5:30 and go until 8:30. We rotate singing 20 minute sets so come by between those times and you'll get a taste of every performer.
The VFW opened years ago nestled in the outskirts of a modest residential section of Takoma Park, Md. Since they have opened their doors to non-veterans as well as veterans, it has become a sought after performance space for many well known bands (The Nighthawks), up-and-coming bands and songwriters, as well as a place local folks get together for blues, gypsy swing, open mics and bluegrass
jams. It's cash only but there's a money mover machine in the bar.
There is no kitchen so if you are hungry, feel free to order out from any of the many local Takoma Park restaurants.
